Sony Europe, UK Technology Centre went to the market looking for effective cooling solutions that requires minimal space. As USystems has previously supplied our 4210 Comms and Data Rack, the customer was initially interested in our affiliated ColdLogik Rear Door Cooler to handle the high heat loads, however unfortunately they were unable to have a water supply.
After a visit to our Cheltenham Technology Centre the Soundproof EDGE-3 MDC was identified as the perfect cooling solution as it provided flexibility to cool up to 12kW, whilst only taking up 1m2 of valuable floor space!

The Sony UK Technology Centre has developed a reputation for manufacturing excellence, which has been recognised through the receipt of four Queen’s Awards for Export, as well as the Queen’s Award for the Environment. The centre is certified to ISO 9001 (quality), ISO 14001 (environment), ISO 45001 (health and safety) and ISO 50001 (energy), and is a previous winner of the British Quality Award and recently crowned Britain’s best factory at the 2013 Best Factory Awards (BFA). As well as winning the prestigious accolade of BFA Factory of the Year, Sony UK TEC has also won the Best Electronics & Electrical Plant Award and the Innovation Award.

EDGE-3 Soundproof Micro Data Center
Simple ‘plug and play’ EDGE-3 solution is supplied pre-configured from the factory with built-in intelligence and an energy efficient air-cooling system for effortless installation and customer convenience.
The EDGE-3 is an excellent all round 19” data, comms and server cabinet, with adjustable front and rear mounting angles and six cable entry ports, but uniquely will reduce equipment noise up to 28.5dBA (99.9%) of IT noise, while providing a thermal load capacity of 12kW.
To accommodate greater depth IT equipment such as some of the latest high power servers. The extension kit enables these to be housed in the EDGE-3 by giving an additional 300mm depth to accommodate this type of deeper, specialist equipment.
